Artificial intelligence is already embedded in the platforms therapists use every day, and with that integration comes a set of ethical responsibilities that every clinician needs to be prepared to navigate.
This workshop provides a practical framework for making ethical, legally sound decisions about AI in clinical and administrative practice. Participants will examine the critical distinction between AI use with and without protected health information, the informed consent requirements for AI-assisted services, Business Associate Agreements under HIPAA, data privacy obligations, and cross-jurisdictional considerations. We will also explore future directions for AI in clinical assessment and what therapists need to watch as the regulatory landscape continues to evolve.
Participants will leave with clear, actionable guidance for evaluating and integrating AI tools in a way that protects clients and upholds professional standards.
